Amsterdam AI #8: DL and Data, detecting appliances with DL and a data discussion

We would like to invite our community members to the 8th Amsterdam AI Gathering, which will take place at the brand new AWS “The Cloud” office in Amsterdam.

This will be a very special night, with two talks on applied AI, for real, and also a panel where we will discuss lessons learned on how data influences your ML decisions and capabilities.

Peer Talks @ Amsterdam AI #8

I. Kaustav Basu, Ph.D. / Data Scientist & Machine Learning Specialist @Quby – Residential appliance detection using temporal machine learning.

Energy consumption by the residential sector contributes significantly to overall worldwide energy consumption. Insights of residential energy usage play an important role in efficient use of appliances and reduce carbon footprint.
In this talk, a time-series based Machine Learning methods (including Deep learning) will be discussed. The method presented has been successfully implemented and deployed in a cloud-based distributed big data platform and provides services to a live product currently offered to more than 300,000 European customers.

Experienced in academia and industry. He is working as a Data Scientist at Quby. He holds a Phd in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Grenoble Alps University, France. He believes in starting simple, create something end to end and iteratively improve the solution.
